The MT Series cast iron GGG50 Y-strainers (EN 1563) protect pumps, meters, heat exchangers and control valves from pipeline debris in water treatment, HVAC and industrial distribution systems across the UAE. A stainless steel sieve basket is accessible via the blowdown port without disconnecting pipework, minimising maintenance downtime. Flanged ends to EN 1092-2 fit all standard UAE distribution piping. Available DN50 to DN200, CE certified for water treatment and district cooling service.

Frequently Asked Questions
What does a Y-strainer do and where should it be installed?
A Y-strainer removes solid particles (sediment, pipe scale, debris) from liquid pipelines to protect downstream equipment: pumps, control valves, meters, and heat exchangers. Install it upstream of any equipment requiring clean flow. In UAE systems, strainers are especially important because desalinated water and new pipework can carry fine silica and pipe-scale particles.
What mesh size do I need for my application?
Standard mesh is 800–1000 micron (20 mesh) for general water service. For finer filtration protecting instruments or flow meters, use 200–400 micron. Finer mesh increases pressure drop and requires more frequent cleaning. The datasheet lists screen perforation and Cv / pressure-drop data for your sizing calculations.
How do I clean or replace the strainer screen?
The screen basket is removable without cutting the pipe. Close isolation valves upstream and downstream, depressurise, unscrew the strainer cap (bottom of the Y body), then remove and clean the screen with water or compressed air. For continuous-flow systems, consider a duplex strainer — one basket stays in service while the other is cleaned.
Are these strainers rated for potable water in the UAE?
Yes. MT Y-strainers use DZR brass or stainless steel bodies with stainless steel mesh screens — both approved for potable-water contact. They carry CE marking and comply with relevant EN pressure-equipment standards, meeting DEWA and Dubai Municipality requirements.
What are delivery lead times from Dubai stock?
Standard sizes are stocked in Dubai for same or next business day dispatch with no minimum order quantity. Contact MT Middle East for project quantities and customised mesh sizes.
